Compatibility Guide
Measure first. Ride with confidence.
The right cycling accessory should match your bicycle, mounting area, dimensions and intended use. This guide helps you check the details that matter before choosing, installing or riding with MotionGear equipment.
Specifications and mounting details clearly match.
A dimension or clearance still needs verification.
Contact MotionGear before installation or modification.
Start with the bicycle system, not only the accessory.
A product name can describe its purpose, but compatibility is usually determined by the mounting interface, physical dimensions and the way the equipment interacts with your bicycle.
Mounting interface
Identify exactly where and how the product connects to your bicycle.
- Handlebar, stem, frame, fork, rack or seatpost location.
- Clamp, bolt, strap, rail or dedicated mounting standard.
- Available straight mounting surface and hardware access.
Dimensions and clearance
Measure the bicycle rather than estimating from appearance alone.
- Tube or handlebar diameter at the intended mounting point.
- Accessory width, length, depth and adjustment range.
- Clearance from cables, tires, knees, heels and steering movement.
System requirements
Electronics and e-bike accessories may require more than a physical fit.
- Connector format, charging method and supported voltage.
- Device dimensions, operating system or communication protocol.
- Manufacturer restrictions for integrated electrical systems.
What to confirm across key cycling categories.
Use the product specifications together with the checks below. Never force a component, stretch a mount beyond its range or modify a connector to create a fit.
Phone mounts and cycling electronics
Confirm both the bicycle mounting area and the device or computer interface.
Bike bags, racks and panniers
Storage compatibility depends on frame geometry, mounting points and movement clearance.
Saddles, cushions and seatpost accessories
A comfortable setup still requires the correct rail, clamp and available adjustment range.
Grips, mirrors and handlebar accessories
Cockpit accessories must fit without affecting braking, shifting or control access.
Bike lights and visibility equipment
Mounting security and an unobstructed light path are as important as clamp fit.
Tires, inner tubes and inflation tools
Wheel markings, tire width and valve format must be checked precisely.
Locks, repair tools and e-bike accessories
Practical accessories still need enough reach, the correct tool interface and safe system compatibility.
Measure the exact mounting point, not a nearby section.
Bicycle tubes and handlebars can change diameter across their length. Measure where the accessory will actually sit and record the result in millimetres whenever possible.
Diameter
Measure the outside diameter of the handlebar, seatpost, rack rail or frame tube at the intended mounting position.
Usable width
Record the uninterrupted straight section available between controls, bends, welds, cables and existing accessories.
Operating clearance
Turn the handlebars, compress suspension where relevant and check moving parts before confirming the available space.
Printed markings
Use tire, tube, rim, seatpost and component markings as a reference, then compare them directly with the product specifications.
Confirm the fit before applying full pressure or load.
A careful trial fit protects the bicycle, accessory and surrounding controls. Stop when resistance, misalignment or interference appears.
Compare every specification
Match the product dimensions and supported range with your recorded bicycle measurements.
Perform a gentle trial fit
Position the item without forcing clamps, straps, rails, threads, plugs or connectors.
Check full bicycle movement
Test steering, braking, shifting, wheel rotation, suspension and rider clearance before use.
Recheck after the first ride
Inspect mounting security, alignment and accessory movement after a careful initial ride.
Know when to proceed, measure again or ask.
Compatibility should be treated as confirmed only when the interface, dimensions, clearance and system requirements all align.
Confirmed match
The product interface, supported dimensions and available clearance match your bicycle without modification.
Ready for careful installationMeasurement required
The product may fit, but one or more dimensions, mounting areas or clearance points still need verification.
Measure before orderingSupport recommended
Contact MotionGear when specifications are unclear, electrical systems are involved or the fit would require modification.
Ask before installationClear answers before you build your setup.
Product specifications should always be compared with the exact bicycle, component or device you plan to use.
How do I know whether a phone mount fits my handlebars?
Measure the handlebar diameter at the exact mounting location and confirm that enough straight, unobstructed bar space is available. Also compare your phone dimensions, case thickness and access to buttons or charging ports.
Can a bag fit any bicycle frame or rear rack?
No. Frame geometry, rack width, rail diameter, strap position and tire or heel clearance can vary. Compare every listed bag dimension and attachment point with your bicycle.
What should I check before buying a saddle?
Confirm the rail format and dimensions supported by your seatpost clamp. Also consider usable adjustment range, saddle width, riding position and any seatpost-mounted accessories.
How do I match an inner tube to my tire?
Read the size printed on the tire sidewall and choose a tube whose stated diameter and width range includes that marking. Confirm the valve type and that the valve length suits the rim depth.
Can I use an accessory when the clamp is slightly too small?
Do not force the clamp or modify the bicycle to create a fit. Use only the supported clamp range and supplied adapters described for the product.
What information should I send for compatibility support?
Include the product name, bicycle type, relevant component markings, exact measurements and clear photos of the intended mounting area. For electronics, include connector and system information without altering the existing wiring.
Still checking the fit? Send us the setup details.
Share the product name, bicycle measurements and clear photos of the intended mounting area. MotionGear can help you review the available information before installation.
